Emergency blanket is a series of unique prints depicting urban and rural landscapes on a thin foil of emergency blanket printed with a special UV technique developed by the artist and Metro Imaging studio in London.

Everything that exists is by definition also natural. In this concept, there is no space for the concept of artificial or unnatural as contrary to Nature.
We, as humans are also part of the natural system, so everything we produce is indeed a natural product. Nature is a fragile collaborative system where all the entities taking part have the responsibility to collaborate and form an ecological balance for stable equilibrium.
The artworks in this series are all-natural landscapes, despite the fact that some of them are man-made.

The artist developed this project between Shanghai, Hong Kong and Athens representative of the man-made urban forests in relation to a rural landscape of the Sila National Park in the South of Italy and Etna Volcano in Sicily.

Each artwork weighs from 3 to 10 grams.
In this series Lo Schiavo is working again with the emergency blanket used for the series Wind Sculptures, a special material developed by NASA in 1964 for the US space program, a symbol of human unique desire for exploration that helps us investigate the role we play in our planet and in our Universe; A material that is at the same time robust and fragile as the relationship between the landscapes presented.
