LITURGICA:
THE CHAPEL OF THE FLASH

Site-specific audio video installation by Giuseppe Lo Schiavo
In collaboration with Deloitte

San Paolo In Converso, Milan – Italy

Liturgica unfolds as a visual journey, like a hallucination: images that flow, shift, and dissolve without beginning or end. Bodies, animals, and matter are immersed in a fluid, water-like stream: alive, unpredictable, sacred, suspended between flesh and vapor, the sacred and the digital. An almost liturgical theatricality permeates the scene.

Figures seem to dance or struggle with an invisible force that reshapes them, one that is not external, but part of them, like nature or technology itself. The illusion of separation makes us lose control; only by recognizing it as ours can we learn to navigate it.

With Liturgica – The Chapel of the Flash the work expands into space, shifting the gaze from sky to ground. Inspired by the conversion of Saul. Understood not as a religious event but as a moment of rupture, vision no longer descends from above, but emerges from the earth, where the sacred persists within the everyday.

Accompanied by music composed by the artist and concluding with a piece by Marco Guazzone, the work moves toward a more intimate dimension. Echoing Isaiah: “You will hear but never understand; you will see but never perceive”, this is not a warning, but a condition. The work ultimately offers an ecological and philosophical reflection: nature does not oppose, it simply persists.

“Nature does not oppose,
nor does it seek revenge,
it simply persists.”

– Giuseppe Lo Schiavo

Liturgica opened the program of Galleria Deloitte in Milan, inside the evocative deconsecrated church of San Paolo Converso.
